CITY OF WEEPING WATER
CITY COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
MAY 9, 2016


    Mayor Mike Barrett called the monthly meeting of the Weeping Water City Council to order at 6:00 p.m., on May 9, 2016 at City Hall with the following members of the council answering roll:  Ray Frew, Kelly Nutter and Timron Gilfert.  Absent:  Lawrence Mozena.  Notice of the meeting was given in advance thereof by publication in the May 5, 2016 edition of the Plattsmouth Journal.  The posted location of the Open Meeting Act was noted by the Mayor.  Motion by Nutter, seconded by Frew to approve the minutes of the April 11, 2016 meeting.  Ayes:  Frew, Nutter, Gilfert.  Nays: None.  Absent:  Mozena.
    No one spoke during Open Forum.
    Monthly Reports:  Scott Schreiner presented the Monthly Fire Department Report, noting that there were three calls during the month.  Roster changes included the retirement of Leonard Stohlmann from the Manley division of the Rural Fire Department.  Motioned by Nutter, seconded by Gilfert to accept the application of Neil Huskey to the Weeping Water Fire Department.  Ayes:  Frew, Nutter, Gilfert.  Nays:  None.  Absent:  Mozena.  There was no Rescue Report available.  Copies of the Maintenance and Water/Wastewater Report were distributed for council review.  It was noted that Sargent Drilling is tentatively planning on being on-site to begin drilling of the new water well on May 23, 2016.
    Motion by Nutter, seconded by Gilfert to approve the application for a Special Designated Liquor License for Hopkins Tavern to operate a beer garden during Limestone Days from 8:00 a.m., on June 25, 2016 to 1:00 a.m., the following day.  Motion carried with Frew, Nutter and Gilfert voting aye.  Nays:  None.  Absent:  Mozena.
    The following Ordinance was presented:  ORDINANCE NO. 626
AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE OPERATION OF GOLF CAR VEHICLES WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS; TO PROVIDE FOR OPERATING REQUIREMENTS; TO PROVIDE FOR THE REGISTRATION OF GOLF CAR VEHICLES; TO ESTABLISH PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS; AND TO PROVIDE FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.  Motion by Gilfert, seconded by Nutter that the statutory rules be suspended so that Ordinance No. 626 might be introduced, read by title and adopted.  Motion carried with Gilfert and Nutter voting aye.  Nays:  Frew.  Absent:  Mozena.  Said Ordinance will be posted in the manner provided by law, with a true, correct and complete copy being on file in the City Clerk’s Office.       
    Items discussed and tabled for further review include recycling costs, finding space for a Dollar General Store and a Community Garden.
    The City would like to thank Dokter Trucking, Hammons Family Funeral Home and the Booster Club for their generous donations to the Ball Program.
