A Town Hall meeting will be held Monday, September 25th at the Hopper Community Center.  Lt. Governor Mike Foley and District 2 State Senator Rob Clements will be there.

ORDINANCE NO. 554

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WEEPING WATER, NEBRASKA TO PROHIBIT PEDDLERS, HAWKERS, SALESMEN, OR SOLICITORS FROM SOLICITING ANY INDIVIDUAL IN THE CITY OF WEEPING WATER; TO PROVIDE FOR EXCEPTIONS TO THIS ORDINANCE; AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE DATE UPON WHICH THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT; AND FOR REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEEPING WATER, NEBRASKA:

     SECTION 1.          To protect the public by preventing the sale of fraudulent, dangerous, and unhealthy goods and services, it shall be unlawful  for any solicitor, salesman, peddler, or hawker to sell or attempt to sell at retail any merchandise, magazines, books, or other items of value or attempt to take orders or subscriptions for the same within the Corporate limits of the City of Weeping Water.

     SECTION 2.          The provisions of this Ordinance shall not extend to any person selling produce raised within the County, to individuals calling on retail merchants in the corporate limits of the City for the purpose of taking orders or selling of merchandise for resale by such merchants, or to residential route sales persons.  Nor shall these provisions be applicable to local non-profit organizations.  This article shall also not pertain to nor apply to persons canvassing residents within the City for religious, political, or non-commercial purposes.

     SECTION 3.          Any person who violates any of the provisions of this article shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and fined in a sum of not more than $500.00.

      SECTION 4.            Any other Ordinance passed and approved prior to this passage, approval, and publication or posting of this Ordinance and in conflict with its provisions, is hereby repealed.

     SECTION 5.             This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage, approval, and publication or posting as required by law.
