The Weeping Water City Council met in special session at 5:00 p.m. on October 17, 2003 at City Hall for the purpose of evaluating contract negotiations with Stephens & Smith Construction Co., Inc., for the Swimming Pool Deck Replacement Project. Mayor Howard Stubbendieck called the special meeting to order with Councilmembers Bob McCaulley, Melody Falcone and Ray Frew answering roll. Absent: Larry Bauers.

Notice of the meeting was posted in three public places in the City on October 15, 2003.

Upon review of the proposals presented by Ben Day of Olsson Associates, a motion was made by McCaulley, seconded by Falcone to approve the negotiated prices with Stephens & Smith Construction Co., Inc., for completion of the Swimming Pool Deck Replacement Project, approving Option II, which allows for the stainless steel grating, with the exception that the City will not waive the bonding requirements, at a cost of $128,139. It was noted that city officials would pursue negotiations of local rock prices and hauling of concrete, which could further decrease the total project costs by means of a change order. Motion carried with McCaulley, Falcone and Frew voting aye. Nays: None.

Motion by McCaulley, seconded by Frew to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously.
