The Weeping Water Chamber of Commerce met for its regular meeting on October 16, 2006 at the Weeping Water Public School for lunch. President Mike Spohr welcomed everyone to the meeting.
Door prizes were furnished by Kerford Limestone and winners were Rich Setchell, Barb Davis, Paula Steinauher, Dort Murphy, Matt Neumann, John Moser, Keith Hammons, Dave Chebatoris, Ray Frew and Mike Spohr.
The minutes of the September meeting were read by Betty Welte. Dort made a motion to accept the minutes, 2nd by Barb, motion carried.
The Treasurer’s report was given by Jean Bruns with no activity and a balance of $4,830.18. Diane Christian made a motion to accept the report, 2nd by Jean Colbert, motion carried.
Kay Gerdes handed out the new flyers about and promoting Weeping Water. We have 500 of them and they will be put out at Platte River State Park, Mahoney State Park, Louisville Lakes, and wherever additional suggestions are made. They will also be available at the local businesses. A grant was received to cover part of the cost of the flyers.
Kay also gave an update on the Coming Home for Christmas activities and more volunteers are needed to head up committees. Barb Davis brought information concerning the auction baskets. Brian Gegg handed out information regarding the TeamMates program that he hopes to get started in Weeping Water. He encouraged us to write letters to the Executive Directors of the program to show support of the program for Weeping Water. Brian also advised that the Homecoming activities were a huge success.
