The Weeping Water Chamber of Commerce meeting was held at 12:00 p.m. Noon on December 18, 2006 at the Congregational Church. After a welcome by President Mike Spohr, the invocation was delivered by Pastor Renae.


Door prizes were provided by Doris Tiedeman with winners being: Frank Cranston, Kay Gerdes, Rick Setchel, Lindsey Powles, Brian Gegg, Diane Christian, Jenny Stock, Matt Neumann.


A signup list for 2007 door prizes was distributed and everyone was encouraged to participate. The October and November minutes were read and approved with the motion to approve by Pastor Renae and seconded by Diane Christian.


The Treasurer’s Report was delivered by Jean Bruns with an ending balance of $4,539.56. Motion to approve was made by Diane Christian, seconded by Carole Cappen. Motion carried.

Recognition and a thank you was given to the Calling Committee composed of Irene Michelson, Jenny Stock, Lucille Mather, Bonnie Pinkerton, and Carole Cappen. All were in attendance except for Bonnie Pinkerton.


A reminder was given to everyone that if they tell the Calling Committee that they will attend a meeting, then they are still responsible for the $6.00 fee in the event they do not attend the meeting.


Coming Home for the Holidays was discussed. The Silent Basket Auction raised $757.50. Checks for $378.75 each were awarded to Pastor Renae for the Ministerial Association and to Brian Gegg for the new Community Building (tables and chairs).


A list of all of the prize winners for the Christmas Tree Decorating Contest and for the Lighting Contests were distributed. Gift Certificates were presented to those present. A copy of the Winner’s list is attached.


Kay Gerdes reported that the “Stop and Shop Contest” deadline was extended until Dec. 23rd to give everyone more time to fill their cards. Two free squares will be given to those who bring in at least two cans of food for the Food Bank. See Kay at the City Office for the “free squares. President Mike thanked Jean Colbert and Jennifer Phillips, the two Board of Directors whose terms ended in 2006.


Past President Carole Cappen presided over the Installation of the 2007 Officers. The Class of 2008 Board Members are Diane Christian, Lindsey Powles, and Don Hughes.


Brian Gegg reported that the Food Bank competition at school raised over 1400 food items. These were delivered to the Weeping Water Food Bank at the United Methodist Church. Jean Colbert stated that the Lofte Theatre has a show running during December called “Tuesdays with Morrie”. Many tickets were still available and encouraged everyone to help “get the word out”.


The Congregational Church and its workers were thanked for serving a wonderful meal.


Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Janice Hermann, seconded by Diane Christian. Motion carried.
