The Weeping Water Chamber of Commerce met for its regular meeting on February 20, 2007 for lunch at the Weeping Water Public School. President Mike Spohr welcomed everyone to the meeting. Guests Linda Fleming, Kim Kastens and John Masters were introduced.
Door prizes were donated by Heartland Community Bank and Addie Idler. Winners were Lindsey Powles, Pastor Sandy Webster, Ray Frew, Mike Keckler, John Masters, Pam McCaulley, Kay Gerdes, Carole Cappen, Rich Setchell and Steve Mausbach.
Minutes from the previous meeting were read by Lindsey Powles. A motion was made by Carole Cappen and seconded by Dort Murphy to approve the minutes. Motion carried. Jean Bruns gave the financial report with a balance of $3,792.ll. A motion to accept the report was made by John Wessels and seconded by Lindsey Powles. Motion carried.
Mike Spohr and Brian Gegg talked briefly about the newly formed Weeping Water Economic Development Committee.
Mike Spohr handed out Member Certificates to those in attendance. If anyone would like to join the chamber, they can contact Mike Spohr.
Mike Spohr mentioned that he needs someone to provide prizes for the December meeting. PCS will do this.
Kay Gerdes spoke about the Weeping Water Web Site saying that Rachel Randall is doing a newsletter on the site and we should check it out.
Mike Spohr shared information about Highway 50 work that will begin this spring. Meeting speaker was Brian Gegg from Weeping Water Public School. He shared an informative talk on how real estate tax revenue affects the school budget.
It was moved and seconded by John Wessels and Brian Gegg to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried
