The Weeping Water Chamber of Commerce met for its regular meeting on May 21, 2007 for lunch at the first Congregational Church. Vice-President Keith Hammons welcomed everyone to the meeting and the invocation was given by Pastor Sandy Webster.
Door prizes were furnished by Grandpa Snazzy’s and winners were: Sandy Webster, Frank Cranston, Betty Neumeister, Kay Gerdes, Paula Steinacher, Lindsey Powles and Adelay Idler.
The minutes of the April meeting were read by Betty Welte. Diane Christian made a motion to accept the minutes, 2nd by Matt Neumann, motion carried.
The financial report was given by Jean Bruns with a balance of $3,975.68. Diane Christian made a motion to accept the financial report, 2nd by Carole Cappen, motion carried.
A sign up sheet for workers for the Chamber Bar-be-que was passed around. Mark Rathe gave an update on Limestone Days and said the Activities will be about the same as last year and help is still needed with the parade. There will be a Limestone Committee meeting at the City Office at 7:00 p.m. Mark also advised that improvements are being made at the City Lakes.
It was noted that a brick campaign will be started for the new Community Building. Also after the meeting the Welcome Committee will be welcoming the Stop-N-Shop. Our guest speaker was Rick Hawks who is doing the design and is the architect for the proposed Community Building. The final draft has not yet been completed to be available for bid offers. The approximate cost at this point is between $900,000 - $1,000,000.
