The Weeping Water Chamber of Commerce met for its regular meeting on September 17, 2007 for lunch at The United Methodist Church. President Mike Spohr welcomed everyone to the meeting and the invocation was given by Dave Fix.
Dave Fix was introduced as a guest. He is the youth intern at Faith Missionary Church.
Door prizes were furnished by Farmers & Merchants Bank and winners were: Betty Welte, Jean Bruns, Barb Bergmann, Matt Neumann, Barb Davis, Chuck Spohr, Jean Colbert, Dort Murphy, Pam McCaulley and Brian Gegg.
The minutes of the August meeting were read by Betty Welte. John Wessels made a motion to accept the minutes, 2nd by Diane Christian, Motion carried.
The financial report was given by Jean Bruns with a balance of $4,151.79. Carole Cappen made a motion to accept the financial report, 2nd by Diane Christian, motion carried.
Kay Gerdes advised that one orginazational meeting was held for the Coming Home for Christmas celebration. A chair person is still needed for the parade and the lighting contest.
It was noted that the Economic Development Committee would be meeting on September 18.
Brian Gegg advised that Homecoming would be October 6th and that the student council would like to paint windows in area businesses. Those interested should contact the school.
Mike also noted that we need to spruce up the front and back of our businesses to help the city look its’ best.
Our speaker was Jerry Pearson, an artist, who will be working on a project at the Fairgrounds. He also talked about how we need to get Char back into the soil.
The next meeting will be October 15th at Weeping Water School with door prizes furnished by Nebraska Boys Home. Meeting was adjourned.
