Weeping Water Varsity Volleyball Team Brings Home a Win!
Last Thursday the Weeping Water high school volleyball team traveled to
Murdock for the 2007 ECNC Volleyball Tournament. In the single
elimination tournament, their first opponent was Cedar Bluffs.
The team felt a little off due to 3 starters not being able to play.
Morgan Wilson was sidelined for an ankle injury and Louise Patterson
and Samantha Wessels could not play due to personal reasons. The team
might have felt nervous and unsure about their new rotation and
starters, but they sure didn’t show it.
The first set was very close the entire time, but in the end the Indians pulled ahead and won the set 25-22. The Indians, pumped up from the wonderful playing in the first set had no problem dominating the second set 25-5. The final set the Indians won 25-17,winning the game.
The team’s next challenger was Elmwood-Murdock who was ranked third in
the state. They played a great game but they fell short to the Knights
tricky tips and powerful jump serves. The scores for the three sets
were: 25-10, 25-14, and 25-7. The Knights eventually moved on to win
the tournament the following Saturday.
Losing to the Knights caused the Indians to be eliminated from the
tournament and unable to play at Southeast Community College in Lincoln
on Saturday. Even though the Indians fell short to Elmwood-Murdock,
they were still ecstatic to bring home a win under the difficult
circumstances. Congratulations Lady Indians on two great games!

Weeping Water to be Featured in Book
The town of Weeping Water has been chosen for the honor of being
included in a book that is going to be printed in July. The book is
about towns with unique names and histories. Only 1,000 copies will be
available for sale and since our town included in the book we get
priority for ordering. The book is $19.95 plus $3.50 for mailing and
handling.
The book is divided into the eight sections of the country, with the
towns within each section in alphabetical order. There are also at
least 30 color photographs from 30 different towns. If you are
interested in purchasing a book, e-mail Sam Drash at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Be sure to include your name and the address you would like the book or books to be sent to.
Fall Story Hour
The Weeping Water public library would like to invite all preschoolers
and their parents to attend story hour at the Weeping Water public
library.
Every Wednesday morning from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
Story hour is a very informal time that gets parents and their young children out of the house and also gives the children a chance to learn at a young age that reading is fun!
