Silent Auction

Weeping Water Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a “Silent Auction” for the annual Come Home for the Holidays celebration. This will be the third year for the silent auction so we are expecting bigger and better things to come. One half of the proceeds will go towards the Weeping Water Ministerial Fund, which provides emergency funds for the area’s needy families or individuals on a needed basis. The other half of the profits will be donated to the Weeping Water Community Building Fund, which will benefit our entire community.

So here is what you can do to help!

Prepare a basket filled with goodies! Be creative! Theme baskets are always a hit. Some creative ideas are Kids Christmas baskets, baked goods baskets, dinner baskets, sports fan baskets, and pet supply baskets. Be sure to list the contents of the basket and the name of your club, organization, or business name on a card wither inside or outside the basket. Also include a minimum bid if necessary.

You can deliver your basket to Tammy’s Soap Shack or the Law Offices anytime. The deadline for dropping off baskets is November 30th at 2:00 pm.

Feel free to contact Doris, Barb, or Tammy with any questions or concerns about the auction.

Bloom Where You’re Planted ChristmasTrees

Save gas and buy your fresh Christmas tree locally this year.  Bloom Where You're Planted Farm has a fresh delivery of Nebraska-grown, pre-cut Scotch pines priced at $25.00 each.  Trees range from 5.5-8 ft. and will be sold during "Christmas in the Country", the farm's holiday boutique event.

Owners Terry and Teresa Lorensen say, "Our trees are grown in southeast Nebraska and are cut just a few days before our opening day. Trees sold by large retailers are cut weeks earlier and can’t compete with the freshness of our trees. And, since our trees aren’t trucked hundreds of miles to get here, it’s better for the environment!"

Bloom Where You're Planted Farm will be open from Nov. 24-Dec. 9, Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m.-5 p.m.  The farm is located at 911-108th St., rural Avoca.  To get there from Weeping Water, take the spur south of town to Hwy. 34, then 3 miles east and 1/2 mi. north.  Call 267-4104 or visit www.bloompumpkinpatch.com for more information.

FCCLA Food Drive: Weeping Water School reached their goal of 2,500 items of food to donate to the Weeping Water Food Pantry before the holiday season. The food drive was sponsored by FCCLA with the incentive if the goal was reached there would be no school on December 20th. The students and faculty collected a total amount of 2,549 cans to be donated. So...NO SCHOOL! Congratulations on helping with such a worthy cause!
