Come Home for the Holidays Celebration

Despite the icy and freezing outdoors on Saturday morning, Weeping Water's annual Come Home for the Holidays Celebration took place. I had a wonderful time walking around town enjoying the pretty scenery the weather had made and all of the lovely decorations around town. I managed to take some pictures of some of the fun activities going on around town on Saturday.

Holiday Scramble
Join the fun of the “Holiday Scramble” in Weeping Water. Entry forms can be picked up at any participating Chamber of Commerce business. Contest dates run from November 27 through December 27, 2007. Drawings for ten $50 gift certificates (redeemable at any Weeping Water Chamber of Commerce business) will be held on December 28, 2007. You need not be present to win. Participants will visit the business to receive one word, which will be a part of the “Holiday Scramble.” Once you obtain all seven words, unscramble the words to form the designated phrase and either write or tape the phrase in the boxes provided on the “entry form.” Complete the form by filling in your name, address, and telephone number and drop off the completed form in the Gold Box at either Farmers & Merchants Bank or Heartland Community Bank.

Bloom Where You’re Planted ChristmasTrees
Save gas and buy your fresh Christmas tree locally this year.  Bloom Where You're Planted Farm has a fresh delivery of Nebraska-grown, pre-cut Scotch pines priced at $25.00 each.  Trees range from 5.5-8 ft. and will be sold during "Christmas in the Country", the farm's holiday boutique event.  Owners Terry and Teresa Lorensen say, "Our trees are grown in southeast Nebraska and are cut just a few days before our opening day. Trees sold by large retailers are cut weeks earlier and can’t compete with the freshness of our trees. And, since our trees aren’t trucked hundreds of miles to get here, it’s better for the environment!"  Bloom Where You're Planted Farm will be open from Nov. 24-Dec. 9, Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m.-5 p.m.  The farm is located at 911-108th St., rural Avoca.  To get there from Weeping Water, take the spur south of town to Hwy. 34, then 3 miles east and 1/2 mi. north.  Call 267-4104 or visit www.bloompumpkinpatch.com for more information.

Library Board Meeting

Library board meetings for the Weeping Water Public Library have been changed from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. every other month.

Fall Story Hour The Weeping Water public library would like to invite all preschoolers and their parents to attend story hour at the Weeping Water public library.

Every Monday morning from 10:00-11:00 a.m.

**Story hour has been changed from Wednesday to Monday mornings**
Story hour is a very informal time that gets parents and their young children out of the house and also gives the children a chance to learn at a young age that reading is fun!
