Weeping Water Newsletter
Regardless of a serious knee injury, Joel Haveman started in his last home basketball game last Friday, February 15. Included in this week's newsletter is Joel's story. Also included are updated and new community activities and events.
Weeping Water Basketball
The Weeping Water High School Boys Basketball Team had their final home basketball game of the season last Friday, February 15. Weeping Water senior Joel Haveman injured his knee early in the season and was unable to play any games throughout this season. Even though Joel is still unable to play he was once again announced as one of the starting five on Friday night.
Joel took his place for the tip off. Senior Jake Nutter jumped for the tip off and tipped it to Junior Andrew Haveman who quickly passed it to Joel before Weeping Water's coach, BJ Blase, called timeout to take Joel out of his final game of the season. The crowd immediately stood cheering and clapping for the wonderful player who was unable to play in his final home game. It was a very emotional time for the entire team.
Congratulations to the varsity team on their win against Conestoga on Friday and congratulations to the senior players: Jake Nutter, Jacob Wardyn, and Joel Haveman on their wonderful career in high school basketball. All of the senior basketball players are also considering playing sports in college. Congratulations and good luck in the future!
