      Weeping Water Academic Top 10 Night took place Monday, April 14. Included in this week's newsletter are pictures and lists of each classes Top 10. Also included are new and updated community events. 
 
 Academic Top 10/GPA of 3.5 or Above

      Weeping Water High School honored their Academic Top 10 students and any student with a 3.5 or above GPA. There were also awards for Most Improved Student. Weeping Water Alumni, Bob Pinkerton, was the guest speaker for the honorable night.

Celebrate the Week of the Young Children
April 13-19, 2008

      Early childhood education is vital to our community. Children need a strong early learning foundation to succeed in school, and go on to succeed in life. Make a differnce in your community.
*Support early literacy programs. Early reading skills are crucial for young children to be ready for school.
*Reach out and thank parents, teachers, and all adults who help young children get a great start.
*Support policies at the local, state, and federal levels that provide high-quality early learning opportunities for all young children.

Picture Day

      Weeping Water Public School will have picture day on Thursday, April 17. Every child will have their picture taken. No money is needed on picture day. Through Lifetouch the parents are able to view the pictures before paying. Look your best and smile big!


Attention Pet Owners

What: The Annual Pet Vaccination and Licensing Clinic

If you are unable to attend the clinic, you may license your dog and/or cat at City Hall during regular working hours or request a license by mail. Please provide animal description, a copy of current rabies vaccination record, self addressed and stamped envelope, and the required fees.
*All dogs and cats must be licensed by May 1st of each year. Proof of current rabies vaccination is required at the time of licensing.*

This is a unique opportunity to learn about agriculture while enjoying the great outdoors! See a cow being milked, pet a baby calf, and sample locally-produced Legacy Milk! Take a guided tour of the 127-year-old farm where you'll learn about farming practices 100 years ago, 50 years ago, and today. Reservations are now being accepted for groups of 10 or more people. Children of all ages are welcome and we will customize your tour to suit the age level of your group. The cost is $3.00 per person. Children ages 2 & under and paid staff members are free with a minimum of 10 paying guests. We'll provide every group with a packet of farm-related coloring and activity pages so you can continue your learning experience after you leave the farm. Weeping Water Basketball Camp

When: Monday-Thursday, June 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th
Times: 6th-9th Boys and Girls-9:00 to 11:30 a.m.
2nd-5th Boys and Girls-12:00-1:15 p.m.
(Grades entering in 2008-2009 School Year)
Cost: $35.00 per camper (Includes camp t-shirt)
Focus of Camp
Fundamentals and basketball instruction will be the main focus at the camp. Shooting, dribbling, defense, 1 on 1 skills, and passing are main areas we look to build upon. Our goal is to help develop a more well-rounded basketball player by teaching the correct fundamentals and rules of the game. We also want to help show each camper ways they can improve their game to help them become the best player they can be.

Cass County Relay for Life

      The 2008 Relay for Life of Cass County will celebrate cancer survivors, remeber those lost to cancer, and inspire our community to fight back against cancer!

Elmwood:
Elmwood-Murdock Baseball/Softball Program is having an all you can eat pancake dinner Sunday, April 20, 2008 from 10:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. A free will donation will be collected. It will be in the old gym at the high school in Murdock. Please encourage everyone to come and support the Summer Ball program.

The Cass County Museum will be hosting their Annual May Basket workshop for children ages 5 to 10 on Saturday, April 26th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. The event is open to the public and the cost is $1.00 per child.

The Springfield Memorial Library will be selling Duck Drop tickets soon! The Duck Drop race takes place during Springfield Days. The grand prize offered will be a Wii gaming machine. So get ready to purchase your winning ticket. For more information, call the library at 253-2797.
