Weeping Water High School's Choir Program put on a great performance! Included in this week's newsletter are pictures and more information on the musical. Also included are new updates on community events.
Thoroughly Modern Millie
Thoroughly Modern Millie is a high-spirited musical romp that has all of New York dancing the Charleston. It's the zany new 1920's musical that has taken Broadway by storm!
Taking place in New York City in 1922, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moced to the city in search of a new life for herself. It's a New York full of intrique and jazz-a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever. Based on the popular movie, the stage version of Thoroughly Modern Millie includes a full score of new songs and bright dance numbers.
Filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men, and a dragon-lady of a villainess audiences will love to hate. Thoroughly Modern Millie is a perfectly constructed evening of madcap merriment. And with the role of Millie Dillmount, musical theatre has found a new heroine for the ages.
Weeping Water High School Choir program performed a short matinee for the elementary students on Wednesday, April 23. The elementary had a hard time understanding some of the humor but they laughed hysterically at Allison Baier, Phillip Rhodes, and Matt Spohr. The "bad guys" of the play.
Thursday and Friday, April 24th and 25th the cast of Thoroughly Modern Millie performed for the public. The cast had a great time and put on a wonderful performance. Despite a couple mishaps with the set, the scenery was wonderful. This high-energy play was in full-force, despite the late night practices leading up to opening night.
Overall, the play went wonderful and the cast had a great time performing for the large audience. All their hard work and dedication to the play paid off in the end. Congratulations on a wonderful performance!
