      This week proved to be a very busy week for Weeping Water High School. Awards Night, Baccalaureate, and Graduation all in one week! Included in this week's newsletter are pictures and information about these events and more!
 
 Weeping Water Junior High/High School Awards Night
 
      Tuesday, May 6 was Weeping Water's Annual Awards Night. On this night all students in Junior High and High School are recognized for their many talents and skills. This is also when the Weeping Water Foundation Scholarships are announced for the senior class. Amoung these Foundation Scholarships is the Berneice Hopper Scholarship which is a $7,000 one year scholarship which is a very big honor to receive. All the students were wonderful and recieved numerous awards. The Berneice Hopper Scholars for 2008 were: Angela Danielson, Allison Baier, Rachel Randall, Jake Nutter, and TJ Bickford. Congratulations to all students who received awards!

Weeping Water High School Graduation
 
        Weeping Water High School celebrated graduation this year on Saturday, May 10 at 4:00 p.m. The gym was beautifully decorated for the important part of the senior's lives. You could see the excitement and sadness in the graduates faces as they sat on the stage together with their classmates for the last time.
 
       Graduating seniors included: Allison Baier, Bryce Bantz, TJ Bickford, Danielle Buffington, Scott Crook, Angela Danielson, Logan Dettmann, Dalton Dieter, Joel Haveman, Caleb Heneger, Anthony Houchin, Matt Kirchhoff, Molly Leckron, Kyle Lindsey, Kelsey McSorley, Hannah Moser, Gary Myers, Jacob Nutter, Louise Patterson, Rachel Randall, Jordan Redden, Phillip Rhodes, Craig Rupp, Amanda Schneider, Logan Schreiner, Alex Vice, Jacob Wardyn, Samantha Wessels, and Austinn Wipf.

      Magna Cum Laude (Top 10% of class): Rachel Randall, Jacob Wardyn, and Samantha Wessels.
 
      Summa Cum Laude (Top 5% of class): Molly Leckron, Hannah Moser, and Louise Patterson.
 
      It was a wonderful graduation and congratulations to all who are taking the next step in their lives.

In Memory of Nevy Neitzel 
 
      Everyone is invited to the Legacy in Lincoln at 56th & Pioneer for an afternoon memorial for Nevy Neitzel. It will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17th. Larry Hanson's Band will play and The Legacy will provide food and drinks. A tree will be dedicated in memory of Nevy. We would like to invite everyone because of the kindness showed at the time of her illness and after she passed away. --Nevy's Family

What: Summer Driver's Education Class
When: July 7-11 (Classroom)

Where: Weeping Water High School
Cost: $295
A $25 deposit is due before May 22nd

Weeping Water Youth Volleyball Camp
Who: Next year's 4th-8th graders
When: May 28-30 
Where: Weeping Water High School Gym
Why: To develop skills and a passion for the sport of volleyball
Fee: $40 (Includes 7.5 hours of instruction, t-shirt, prizes,
and tons of fun!)
 
 
Weeping Water Girls Basketball Camp
Who: The camp will be open to girls that will be entering grades 5th-8th in the 2008-2009 school year
When: Thursday-Saturday, June 5th, 6th, and 7th
Time: Noon-3:00 p.m. (Please be there 10-15 minutes early)
Cost: $20.00 per girl
Where: Weeping Water School Gym
Why: To work on some basic fundamentals: ball handling, dribbling, passing, and shooting. There will also be some other fun activities during the camp.
Sign-Up forms are available at the school. Return the sheet and the cost to Coach Hammer or Mrs. Miller no later than May 21st.

Pickin' In The Park
Pickin' In The Park will be a day of great country and bluegrass music for the whole family. Bring a covered dish and lawn chairs. This will be a one day only event. Dinner will be served from 5:00-6:00 p.m. I fyou are a band or want to perform on stage, please call the number below to get a set time for a performance. Each band will get a hour and a half on stage. Any jamming is welcome! This event is for the whole family! Be sure to come out and enjoy great music, fun, food, and friends!

Weeping Water Basketball Camp
When: Monday-Thursday, June 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th
Times: 9:00 to 11:30 p.m.-6th to 9th Grade Boys and Girls
Noon to 1:15 p.m.-2nd-5th Grade Boys and Girls
(Grades entering in 2008-2009 school year)
Cost: $35.00 per camper (Cost includes camp t-shirt)
Focus of Camp: Fundamentals and basketball instruction will be the main focus at the camp. Shooting, dribbling, defense, 1 on 1 skills, and passing are main areas we will look to build upon. Our goal is to help develop a more well-rounded basketball player by teaching the correct fundamentals and rules of the game. We also want to help show each camper ways they can improve their individual game to help them become the best player they can be.

Cass County Relay for Life
The 2008 Relay for Life of Cass County will celebrate cancer survivors, remember those lost to cancer, and inspire our community to fight back against cancer.

This will be the first time Wess Adams from Walling, TN will be in our area! Wess is a full-time performer and recording artist with Grapevine Records. "On Track" was a Grammy Nominated song written by David Staton and "Every Knee Shall Bow" was a duet with Allison Durham and Wess Adams.

Donations are now being accepted for the annual Goldenrod Garden Club Scholarship. This scholarship is available to any graduating senior (public school, private school, or home school) who lives within the Avoca Fire District, and who is planning to continue their education. Plattsmouth:
USDA Rural Development Representative Judy James will be at the Plattsmouth Public Library from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. every Thursday as a part of the 502 Direct Home Loan Program.
