The First Congregational United Church of Christ in Weeping Water is collecting used coats to be given to folks in our community.  If you have some coats, gloves, scarves, mittens, and hats that are in good, clean condition that you are no longer using, please share them with those in need.  You can drop your donations off at the church Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until noon.  Or you can call the church at 267-3645 to arrange a time to drop them off.  Thank you.

Weeping Water PTO

The Weeping Water PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization) is selling stadium chairs in order to earn money to purchase items for the elementary school.  The PTO has purchased many items for the school over the years such as new playground equipment and many classroom supplies.  The stadium chairs cost $40 for one and $75 for two.  They hold up to 350 lbs and are very good quality.  What a great idea for Christmas gifts!  If you are interested in purchasing some chairs, please call Brandy Ahrens, PTO president, at 297-0876.  Thank you for your support.

CHRISTMAS IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!
ARE YOU READY?

I’m always amazed at how fast time flies now that I am getting older (or should I say “more mature”!).   Christmas will be here in six weeks and there is so much to do—shopping, eating, baking, wrapping, eating, visiting, eating, decorating, and did I mention eating?  The most beautiful part of the Christmas season for me are the decorations that I see on and around the houses in the town of Weeping Water.  Nothing gets me in the Christmas mood faster than driving around town to look at the lights and displays that have been painstakingly designed, built, and erected by some very talented people in our community.
I would love to showcase these houses in my column every week.  If you see a house all decked out in its Christmas finery, snap a picture and send it to me, along with the address, so that I can tell my readers where they can see the display in person.
I would also like to hear about special events happening in the community—food drives, caroling, Christmas parties, sledding parties, Christmas programs, coat drives, toy drives, etc.—anything that you think helps get people in the Christmas spirit.
