Weeping Water Nebraska
THANK YOU!!

Kelly Hauschild and her family would like to thank everyone who contributed their time, baked goods, and items for her auction.  They feel so thankful to the people of Weeping Water and the surrounding communities for helping out during this challenging time in their lives.  Her fundraiser was a huge success!

Her family and friends estimate that they served soup, rolls, and dessert to close to 400 people from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.—in fact they ran out of soup.  There were also many people who came to the fundraiser and didn’t eat, so you know that there were probably over 500 people supporting their family.  Everything brought for the auction sold—either during the silent auction or at the live auction.
Doesn’t it make you feel good to know that the people of our community are willing to help those in need?  I sat in the school lunchroom looking around at all those who were attending this fundraiser and I felt so blessed to be part of such a caring community.  Way to go Weeping Water!  Thank you!!

CHRISTMAS IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!

ARE YOU READY?

I’m always amazed at how fast time flies now that I am getting older (or should I say “more mature”!).   Christmas will be here in six weeks and there is so much to do—shopping, eating, baking, wrapping, eating, visiting, eating, decorating, and did I mention eating?  The most beautiful part of the Christmas season for me are the decorations that I see on and around the houses in the town of Weeping Water.  Nothing gets me in the Christmas mood faster than driving around town to look at the lights and displays that have been painstakingly designed, built, and erected by some very talented people in our community.
I would love to showcase these houses in my column every week.  If you see a house all decked out in its Christmas finery, snap a picture and send it to me, along with the address, so that I can tell my readers where they can see the display in person.
I would also like to hear about special events happening in the community—food drives, caroling, Christmas parties, sledding parties, Christmas programs, coat drives, toy drives, etc.—anything that you think helps get people in the Christmas spirit.
