Weeping Water Nebraska
SINGING YOUTH

OF NEBRASKA 2009

The annual middle school “Singing Youth of Nebraska” concert was held in the Tecumseh Elementary School auditorium on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009.  This year’s honor choir consisted of 7th, 8th, and 9th graders who were chosen to participate by their vocal music teachers.  In alternating years the participants must submit audition tapes in order to be chosen for this event.  This year’s clinician was Mike Morris, Director of Choral Music at Crete Junior-Senior High School.
Some of the schools participating this year included Johnson County Central, Louisville, Pawnee City, Tri County, and Weeping Water.  Due to the snowy and icy conditions that day, some schools were unable to attend.  Weeping Water contributed 13 very talented students to this year’s honor choir.
The choir sounded wonderful!  The students did a wonderful job of preparing for this concert in advance and on Saturday.  The vocal music teachers must also be commended for their hard work in preparing their students so that Mr. Morris was able to blend their voices so beautifully in such a short time. (They only had five short hours to practice before the concert!)
Here are some pictures of the concert:

CONGRATULATIONS

BASKETBALL BOYS!

The Weeping Water boys basketball team won the subdistrict tournament on Thursday, Feb. 26th.  The championship game was against Louisville with the Indians winning 59-44.  They now advance to the district tournament to be held on Monday, March 2nd at Southwest High School in Lincoln where we will be playing against Freeman.  It promises to be a very exciting game!  Good luck boys.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT
STEAK DINNER

The Wednesday Night Steak Dinners at the First Congregational United Church of Christ are a huge success.  Each week has seen an increase in the number of dinners served to the people of Weeping Water and the surrounding communities.  I have heard many, many comments about how delicious the meals are and how organized and efficient the volunteers are.
The workers and organizers of this fundraiser are to be commended for their hard work and dedication to raising money for the Congregational Church and for providing a unique dining experience for our town.
