CITY WIDE STREET CLEANING:
The annual city-wide street sweeping will be April 30, May 1st and May 2nd, weather permitting. Please make a community effort to remove vehicles from city streets during the street cleaning process to allow access to all the streets. Residents and businesses are encouraged to sweep any sand and debris on sidewalks out into the street gutters prior of the street sweeping. Residents are also reminded that mowing or blowing grass clippings and/or leaves out into the street is prohibited and violators may be subject to fines for the same, as this only defeats the city’s purpose in hiring city-wide street sweeping services.
What Have They Been Up To?
~ I am currently trying out a new section to my newsletter, called “What Have They Been Up To?” Which is a short story in every newsletter with little tidbits of what high school, junior high, or elementary students are currently doing with extracurricular activities. Feel free to tell me what you think! ~
A group of nearly 60 high school students traveled to Nebraska City last Friday to perform for choir and band at district music contest. The students had been preparing for this event since coming back from the Holiday break in January and were very excited and nervous to perform. Both the band and choir did exceptionally well, both receiving an excellent rating. The director of both band and choir, Kim Hammer, was very proud of how well all of her students did at the annual contest. Congratulations!
The music department is also busy getting ready for the production of the spring musical, Grease, which will be performed Thursday and Friday of this week. The director of the musical is Kim Hammer and she is very anxious for the performances to arrive. Both high school and junior high students are involved in this large production. It should be a great show full of laughs!
