Vacation Bible School (VBS): A Success!
This year’s VBS went better than ever!! With a unique special agents theme, the lessons and crafts had a fun twist to them. Every morning all the students would meet at the First Congregational Church for their opening, which included a very well performed skit and an introduction to the lesson they would be studying that day. Following the opening the students split up into age groups and walked with their teachers to their classrooms, which were often in other Weeping Water churches.
The week flew by and before they knew it- Friday, the last VBS day, arrived. Individual classes found themselves very busy trying to prepare for the program for the parents and families of the children all Friday morning. The program was great! Some classes combined for their performance and all groups did fantastic!
The 3,4, and 5 year olds combined to sing various songs, including everyone’s favorite-“Jesus Loves Me.” For such little children, they sure did sound great! The Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students performed a skit about the story of Daniel and they also sang a song about their memory verse for the day from the book of Daniel. The 3rd grade did a skit about the Ten Commandments, which gained many laughs. The 4th grade presented a skit about Jeremiah. Finally, the 5th and 6th grade performed a skit entitled “Moses and the 12 Secret Agents” to go along with the VBS theme.
All in all, VBS was a tremendous success thanks to all of the teachers and helpers that did so much for the VBS program. Teachers for VBS included: Darla Blevins-3 yr olds, Chris Meeske- 4 yr olds, Yvonne Meeske and Candi Rathe-5 yr olds, Betty Welte- Kindergarten, Tammy Loman-1st grade, Laurie Barrett- 2nd grade, Pastor Sandy Webster and Linda Spohr-3rd grade, Diane Mogensen-4th grade, and Noelle and Ron Holly-5th and 6th grade. A BIG thank you goes out to all of the teachers helpers that made this summer’s VBS possible.
